Permanent makeup (PMU), also known as semi-permanent makeup or micropigmentation, is a form of cosmetic tattooing. There are several different types of permanent makeup procedures available and I offer lip blush, eyeliner and eyebrow treatments. These procedures allow you to have long lasting eyeliner and lip colour as well as perfectly shaped eyebrows. One of the main benefits attracting people to permanent makeup is the fact that it can drastically reduce the time spent getting ready every day!
Permanent makeup involves hypo-allergenic pigments being placed under the surface of the skin in order to create a shadow of colour that mimics perfectly applied makeup. This pigment stays in the skin for a number of years, gradually breaking down and fading with time, although the longevity of the results depends on age and skin type.
Permanent make up is not intended as a complete substitute for topical make up, but can be used as a base that provides permanent definition and colour which can be further enhanced according to your own preference. All applications are customized for each individual client with long lasting results that will let you look your best.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will happen during my procedure?
I will firstly always conduct an initial consultation to discuss what you want to achieve and decide the best treatment plan for your goals. I will take your full medical history to assess whether you are a candidate for permanent makeup and you will then be asked to fill in a consent form to say you fully understand the procedure and its associated risks and complications. If you give your consent then I will also take photographs to use as a before and after comparison.
Each treatment can take between one to three hours. You will usually always need to come in for more than one appointment to achieve maximum results as the pigment will be absorbed and will need topping up.
I usually mark out the area being treated with a cosmetic pencil to act as a guideline. The pigments are then placed under the skin using a very fine needle attached to a hand held electrical device. If you experience discomfort then I can apply a topical anaesthetic to minimise any pain felt. This will be done on an individual basis depending on whether clients feel they need it.

PRE-PROCEDURE ADVICE
For the best results, I recommend following these rules, before your treatment:
• Avoid wearing makeup on the day of the procedure.
• Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to treatment.
• Avoid having an eyebrows wax for 48 hours prior to treatment.
• Do not have Electrolysis treatment for at least 5 days before the treatment.
• Avoid use of AHA products and Retinoids 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
• Avoid exfoliating or microdermabrasion treatments 2 weeks prior to the treatment.
• No Chemical peels or laser peels 2 months prior to the treatment.
• Do not have Botox or fillers 2 weeks prior to the treatment.
• Avoid using Eyebrow growing serum for at least 6 weeks before the treatment.
• Avoid drinking too much caffeine on the day of the treatment.
• Avoid high-intensity exercise before the treatment.
• If you suffer from dry or dehydrated skin, I recommend drinking around 2 litres of water, for a couple of weeks before the treatment; this will improve the skin massively and helps to achieve a better result.
• Do not take pain killers prior to the treatment.
• Do not use eyebrow/eyelash tint within 2 weeks of starting treatment.
• Do not use eyelash perm (LVL) within 1 week of starting treatment.
• False Eyelashes/Lash Extensions must be removed prior to treatment.
• Contact lenses must not be worn during the treatment or throughout the healing process.
• You can leave your eyebrow hair to grow before the treatment; this helps me to see your natural brow shape when designing your new brows.
• I will tidy them during the treatment.
contraindications & restrictions
There are some Contraindications to the Treatment, which may prevent you from being able to go ahead. Please contact me directly if you have any concerns or questions.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding – Unable to undergo treatment
• Chemotherapy and Radiation – Limited time period applies before and after the treatment
• Liver Disease
• Compromised skin near brow area (Eczema, or similar skin conditions) need to be cleared before treatment can go aheadae
• Heamophilia
• Keloid scarring – Unable to undergo treatment
• Autoimmune disease – May need to consult a doctor to check if treatment is safe to perform.
• Aspirin – If you take aspirin by choice, you can discontinue use 1 week prior to the treatment. Never discontinue using medication that was prescribed without consulting your Doctor.
• Previous Permanent Makeup (PMU) – Not every old PMU can be covered, so please book consultation if applicable.
• Acutane, Retin A (Steroid Cream) – Limited time period for use before and after treatment
• Diabetes – Must be controlled by medication to receive treatment.
• Antibiotics – The course must be completed with minimum of 2 weeks prior to the treatment
• Recent Surgery – How soon treatment can be carried out will depend on the type of surgery undertaken. Please contact me to discuss.
